OUR PRIORITIES

My campaign is focused on “prioritizing the basics” by building a government that truly works for the people of San Diego. I will prioritize initiatives that foster community growth, drive meaningful change, and uphold the values of purpose and integrity. With a servant-leader mindset, I am committed to addressing our city’s most pressing needs, forming collaborative partnerships, and creating sustainable solutions that deliver real results.

From public safety to economic resilience and infrastructure improvements, we face significant challenges—but I believe that together, we can overcome them and build a government that works better for you.

End Homelessness

  • Create a streamlined, collaborative system that centralizes accountability and reduces the City’s role as the sole responder, enabling a more coordinated and effective response to homelessness.

  • In the wealthiest country in the world, it is unacceptable for anyone to live on the streets or sidewalks. We must work together to provide safe and stable solutions for all.

  • Focus on the "AND," not the "OR"—prioritizing multiple strategies simultaneously, from immediate interventions to long-term solutions, rather than choosing one at the expense of another.

  • Increase the availability of shelters that prioritize positive transitions into permanent housing, ensuring individuals and families have the support they need to rebuild their lives.

Focus on
Working Families

  • Expedite the development of housing near transit hubs, schools, and underutilized City-owned properties to create family-friendly communities with easy access to education, transportation, and amenities. Focus on mixed-use and sustainable developments that integrate housing with parks, childcare facilities, and community spaces.

  • Lower housing costs by streamlining the permitting process, reducing bureaucratic delays, and encouraging the construction of diverse housing types to meet the needs of families. By making it easier to build more homes, we can increase supply and ensure families have access to affordable, high-quality housing options in San Diego.

  • Introduce robust incentives for childcare providers to grow and thrive, including grants, tax credits, and zoning flexibility to encourage new facilities. Prioritize partnerships that support affordable or no-cost childcare options, ensuring working families have the resources they need to succeed.

  • Make it easier for programs that provide no-cost extracurricular activities, such as sports, arts, and health-focused initiatives, so all children, regardless of economic background, have access to enriching experiences that foster their growth and well-being.

  • Expand resources and grants for small businesses, particularly those owned by working parents, to foster local economic growth.

Focus on revitalizing neighborhood business districts with accessible retail, services, and community spaces that benefit working families.

Build A Finer City
for the Future

  • Invest in infrastructure projects that mitigate the impacts of rising sea levels, coastal erosion, and flooding. This includes seawall maintenance, natural shoreline restoration, and resilient urban planning.

Work with regional and state agencies to secure funding for climate adaptation strategies and disaster preparedness in coastal zones.

  • Prioritize increasing resources for paving roads and repairing potholes to improve the quality of San Diego’s streets. Well-maintained infrastructure not only ensures smoother commutes but also enhances safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike.

  • Decrease the time it takes to repair broken streetlights by investing in better systems for reporting, tracking, and resolving outages. Well-lit streets contribute to both public safety and a sense of community pride.

  • Expand workforce development programs to attract and retain top talent and streamline the hiring process to fill critical roles in city services. A stronger and more efficient city workforce ensures timely and effective delivery of essential services to residents.

  • Develop comprehensive strategies to reduce traffic congestion and prioritize the redesign of community infrastructure. This includes improving pedestrian walkways and ensuring transit-oriented development to create safer, more efficient neighborhoods.

  • Actively back community-driven projects and ideas by providing grants, technical support, and streamlined approval processes. Empowering residents to lead initiatives fosters innovation and strengthens the connection between the City and its neighborhoods.

Safe & Clean Neighborhoods

  • Public safety is one of the most fundamental responsibilities of city leadership, and I am committed to ensuring our neighborhoods are safe and secure for all residents.

  • Advocate for the implementation and support of modern technology to empower law enforcement in identifying and apprehending criminals more effectively and efficiently.

  • Close existing loopholes in short-term vacation rental policies and hold bad actors accountable to protect the integrity and quality of life in our neighborhoods.

  • Advocate for a fully cost-recoverable STVR system that accurately reflects the true costs of regulation. This includes funding for adequate code enforcement, compliance monitoring, waste and recycling management, and police response to maintain community standards.
